Fun At Work Day

Fun At Work Day. That sounds like an oxymoron, doesn’t it? Work is where you get stuff done. Fun is where you don’t. But that’s not entirely true. The two often overlap and, if work (and life) is to be enjoyed, they definitely should sometimes. Our culture is beginning to catch on to this and the needs of employees are becoming a top priority. Employers are beginning to recognize that most workers don’t check their humanity at the door as soon as the clock strikes 9am. Most of us continue to laugh, smile, joke, and feel the world around us no matter what time of day it is.

These ideas have been spreading in the last couple of years and everyone is starting to catch on that having fun at work is good for business. Happy employees stick around longer and do better work. They don’t get sick as often and they are more productive. The few bucks that it might cost you to let your employees banter here and there will pay off in the end. Employee turnover is expensive and happy employees are less likely to leave.

What Are You Doing For Fun At Work Day?

So, with all that in mind, let’s not take this day lightly. What will your office be doing to celebrate this day? Will you schedule a special lunch, office games, or pranks? What about relaxing the dress code and encouraging talking and laughter? Whatever you choose, make sure that employees get a few minutes in to laugh and play on this very important national day!
